Congratulations to California for banning trans fats in restaurants, becoming the first state to do so. Of course, New York City led the way.
The trans fats get a waiver for restaurant products until 2010, and retail baked goods until 2011. Packaged foods will be exempt.
Besides NYC, Philadelphia, Stamford, CT, and Montgomery County, MD have done away with trans fats.
Trans fats have truly become unnecessary, and we've seen proof of that. Though McD's fries aren't quite the same, it's still an overall positive move for all.
