Monday may mark the official day of summer for Americans. But let's be honest: today is the day you will buy groceries for the Memorial Day festivities. So today marks the day you decide how this summer is going to be.
Will the summer of 2010 be the summer of corn chips and nacho "cheese"? Will it be the summer of dripping 8 oz. and 12 oz. burgers at some lame bar? Will it be late-night runs at fast food places because it's warm?
Or will the summer of 2010 be one where you flock to farmers markets? Where you eat food from your own garden. Where you eat vegetables and fruit like they were French fries in other parts of the year. Where you might go out for sorbet instead of ice cream.
In the middle of summer, the momentum may have shifted. Today is the day you can start the momentum.
When you are trapped in the middle of winter, and you are pigging out on processed carbohydrates, you think that when summer comes, you'll eat better. This is your chance to decide for the summer of 2010.
