NBC Sports Network is breaking through a few glass ceilings in bringing us the Calgary Flames Wednesday night.
The channel rarely carries a doubleheader game, and hasn't carried the Flames on its airwaves since the Heritage Classic almost a year ago.
The NBC Sports Network will carry the CSN-California feed (think Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda), though TSN is also carrying the game.
One catch: Boston at Buffalo starts on NBCSN at 7:30 pm Eastern and the Sharks-Flames start at 10 pm. So there is a distinct possibility that the coverage will start in-progress if the Bruins-Sabres go to OT.
Given I live in Comcast country, I always monitor to see if my local Comcast sports channel will carry some of the other Comcast channels. In this case, Comcast-owned NBCSN will have it nationwide.
The network ran a promo during its coverage last night to promote the telecast, so this was a very last-minute call. As far as we know, the game itself doesn't have significance other than it will be a good game.
