If we did have a contest to pick the most Canadian of Canadian companies, Canadian Tire would get a lot of votes. Yet we haven't featured them in our advertising segment. This ad shows the "testers" that check the quality of each product.
You might remember Canadian Tire mentioned in the film One Week. The company is also known for its Canadian Tire money. Yes, the store has its own currency.
I haven't been in too many Canadian Tire locations but when I do. I feel very Canadian.
We noted the melting pot that is Canada when we referred to the refugee spot from the Ontario government. Swiss Chalet looks at the foreign influences in Canada, including butter chicken. I love the idea of the potato chips in the flavour of the Swiss Chalet sauce. Between that and the actual maple bacon potato chips I've had in Canada, that will expand your taste buds.
Food is more expensive in Canada. A 7 oz. steak, cut unknown, with 2 sides would certainly be a lot less than $15 in the United States. In this Montana's commercial, the family really can't believe that the steak is "only" $14.99. When they don't say what kind of steak, chances are the steak is okay and probably heavily marinated. I can't stand whatever the Keg does to its steaks so I can't imagine Montana is that much better, but I don't know from experience.
Insurance company ads are usually boring. Shopping for insurance company ads can be fun (e.g., Progressive). Intact Insurance takes us to a house with a leaky roof. The couple is prepping its science-fiction marathon viewing. They don't have to worry because their insurance company is giving them updates. The spot is nerdy in a good way.
The Canadian Museum of History is in Gatineau, Quebec but you can see Ottawa and Ontario from its campus. The museum has a hockey exhibit. You can't get more Canadian in history than hockey, eh.
These ads ran in the NHL Center Ice free preview that ran during the last week of the regular season. The MLB Extra Innings free preview also ran during the same dates. The Toronto Blue Jays were on the road that week so I got no Blue Jays feeds.
