As much as I used to love KFC, I do get a craving every so often. I do have a soft spot for KFC. And the locations that are run well do an OK job.
So it was interesting to see The New York Times quote Business Week. While sales in all fast-food categories are rising, KFC is doing particular well. Last month, Pallavi Gogoi of Business Week reported that, "sales at stores open for a year or more soared 6 percent versus a 3 percent drop in the year-ago period."
I know we live in a period where, short of a time machine, you can't get the quality of yesteryear. But a well-cooked piece of chicken (where the skin is a dark brown), and cole slaw where the dressing/cabbage/carrots ratio is very moist, can go a long way toward recreating the long-ago taste.
Symbolically though it may be, changing the name back to Kentucky Fried Chicken would help. Reportedly, Yum Brands is considering this move.
