In the latest Thought for Food update on the "Colbert Report," Stephen Colbert points out the heartbreaking tragedy that Burger King, Popeye's, and Pizza Hut are pulling out of Afghanistan. This is part of a ban on fast food in Afghanistan bases.
Fascinating how we expect our children to learn and our soldiers to fight while eating fat, sugar, and salt in such high quantities.
Colbert pulled out the KFC Double Down as an example of "craziness" as in how could they invent such a sandwich. "This is deep-fried madness ... If a sandwich has no buns, can it truly be called a sandwich? This is the warped creation of a syphilitic brain."
The segment showed the ad KFC is running for the sandwich. Notice that it's all men in the ad; they know their target audience.
To wrap up the segment, Colbert profiled McDonald's attempt to introduce cupcakes in its German restaurants.
At the end of the show, Colbert placed a cupcake between the two chicken filets from the Double Down, forming a cupcake sandwich. Fortunately, the sandwich wasn't actually consumed, at least on camera.
