This week's temptation of the week seems innocent enough. When visiting a place such as New York City, known for a particular type of food, say, pizza, you might as well do it right. As we learned from Jon Stewart, Donald Trump and Sarah Palin fell far short of good New York City pizza.
Jon Stewart goes perhaps overboard in his outrage, but you do have to love his passion about New York pizza.
And this is the point. Indulge when you get a chance. Eat sourdough in San Francisco, pizza in New York, deep dish pizza in Chicago, seafood in Boston, and poutine in Montréal.
You are there on vacation, and you may not get back to that place. Or it may be a while before you get back. Part of the fun of traveling should be to enjoy the local food.
Paris reminds me of food, as does San Francisco. Even blueberries from Southwestern Michigan are a great memory.
Going to New York City to go to Applebee's or Famiglia is okay, but not memorable. And food, whenever possible, should be memorable.
And if you are going to New York City and want good pizza, watch the video and take notes: Jon Stewart has a few good recommendations.
