We like to imagine there are 2 doors to choose from during holiday eating time. Go completely nuts and eat everything in sight or "be good" all the time at the height of temptation.
Either way, we feel like we lose no matter the decision.
The truth, the true reality, lies in a mixture of the 2 doors in the combination we choose. Yes, 100% in either direction is a choice but there is a rainbow of combinations. Find what works for you.
This requires a bit from Column A (in this case, removing temptation) and Column B (being realistic). So click on our previous advice on these topics, and find your own combination to withstand the pressures.
Removing holiday temptation
Balancing holiday temptation with reality
If you find the pressure is too much, you can always end up in a Chinese restaurant with your Jewish friends on Christmas Day. This analogy may not work for your scenario, but take the point the analogy is trying to make. Reduce the pressure; the holidays are supposed to be fun. Reducing the stress of holidays may allow you to eat well without going too far and without having to set too many limits.
If all else fails, the beginning of 2016 brings weight-loss TV shows that can help with stress and/or binge eating. Happy Holidays!!
