The United States struggles to generate jobs in this economy, especially jobs that don't involve the 2010 Census.
The Huffington Post article notes that there is a close option, where jobs are being generated: Canada.
As the article points out:
Last month, Canada, a nation with roughly one tenth of our population, created about 10,000 more new jobs than America ... Canada added 93,200 jobs in June, while U.S. private employers added just 83,000.
Canada's unemployment rate stands at 7.9 percent versus a U.S. unemployment rate of 9.5 percent. Given that the official numbers aren't a literal reflection, and that the U.S. numbers are likely more undercounted, the difference is significant.
The article does point out that Canada had a jump in jobs in the service sector. So we aren't talking high-paying jobs, but Canada has a better overall economic health.
