While I do have the love for having Canadian-based NHL teams on U.S. television, that love applies to regular season and, of course, the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Pre-season hockey? Not that exciting.
However, if your love extends to pre-season, then you absolutely need to know that Versus (yes, it is still called Versus) will show the Toronto Maple Leafs in a pre-season game at Philadelphia. The telecast is September 21 at 7 pm Eastern.
Versus is carrying 4 pre-season games, a rather unusual phenomenon, something rarely seen on U.S. television.
A friend of mine will likely catch one or two pre-season games in person in Toronto, but it will be her first visit to Canada's largest city. But the game on TV is in Philadelphia. (Comcast owns the Flyers and Versus).
For those of my American readers who get the CBC, the network has a few pre-season games. Here is the list of the relevant games:
September 21: 7 pm – Toronto vs. Philadelphia (VERSUS)
September 24: 7 pm – Buffalo vs. Toronto (CBC)/10 pm – Anaheim vs. Vancouver (CBC)
September 26: 4 pm – Winnipeg vs. Ottawa (CBC)
October 1: 7 pm – Detroit vs. Toronto (CBC)/10 pm – Edmonton vs. Vancouver (CBC)
