Finding ketchup chips and Jos. Louis snack cakes in a Canadian grocery store — no big deal. Finding both in a grocery store in Southwestern Michigan — big deal.
Yes, we found Jos. Louis snack cakes last fall in Jewel stores in and around Chicago. The cakes were there for a limited time — about 12 weeks. Now I found them at a Meijer's in Stevensville, Michigan.
The ketchup chips, a Canadian classic, are made in the United States by Herr with a nod from Heinz (both Pennsylvania companies).
Hopefully, the chips have a farther reach than the snack cakes. Americans like ketchup and potato chips; whether they will like them together remains to be seen.
