I can only vouch for one Meijer's location in Michigan City, IN, but I have seen Vachon versions of Hostess classics such as Twinkies, Cup Cakes, and Ding Dongs. And they are comparable to the old Canadian versions of the timeless treats thanks to the fact that they are made from sugar and not glucose-fructose (high-fructose corn syrup).
The U.S. version of the Jos. Louis snack cakes were missing, but my sadness from the loss was outweighed by the joy of seeing these products on the shelves.
The Canadian version of the Twinkies and Cup Cakes we grew to love importing from Canada may never be found again, but these knockoffs are pretty close.
The U.S. market has been looking for a replacement for those iconic Hostess classics available only in Canada, not in the United States. And these are better than the Hostess products currently available in Canada.
