The Buffalo Bills can't even blame Rob Ford for their latest Toronto loss.
The crack-smoking Toronto mayor arrived before Fred Jackson scored his first of two touchdowns. Ford wore a Fred Jackson Bills jersey to Rogers Centre.
The Jackson TD gave the Bills a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Falcons dominated the rest of the first half outscoring the Bills 17-3. Then again, Ford left at haltime; at least the Bills scored some points before he left.
The teams exchanged TDs in the 3rd and 4th quarters; Atlanta scoring the game-tying TD with 88 seconds on the clock.
Matt Bryant 36-yard FG was the winner in OT for the Falcons.
The Bills got sloppy at the worst possible time. Falcons safety William Moore forced a fumble in OT by punching the ball away from Bills TE Scott Chandler. Buffalo also fumbled late in regulation after Atlanta tied the score.
Even though Rob Ford was allowed in the stadium, signs denouncing him were not allowed. To be fair, signs praising the mayor weren't allowed either, though the former was likely more of an issue.
Canadian singer Matt Mays was on Twitter saying that Ford took his seat. Eventually, Mays got his seat back.
The tighter NFL security rules contributed to a smaller crowd at the beginning of the game with long lines waiting to get into the stadium. The official crowd mark was 38,969, the lowest of the 6 regular season games in Rogers Centre. And this was with the Beach Boys at halftime and a chance to see Rob Ford in the crowd.
Last year's game against the Seahawks drew the previous smallest crowd at 40,970.
Fox, like TSN in the CFL East final, mentioned the mayor in passing, but not by name.
"There's Toronto's city hall," Dick Stockton said over a visual of City Hall "and there’s some interesting things going on there."
The Buffalo Bills are now 4-8 and in last place in the AFC East and 6th in the wildcard hunt; the team can't finish above .500. The team is now 1-5 in Toronto.
The Falcons now stand at 3-9, winning its first road game of the season. Atlanta plays its home games in a dome and even had some Falcons fans in the stands.
