The Windsor International Film Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a lot more time and some highlights from previous festivals.
Xavier Dolan's "Mommy" — Canada's Oscar entry in Best Foreign Language film — as well as Dolan's previous film "Tom at the Farm" are highlights on the festival schedule.
"Felix and Meira" won Best Canadian Film at TIFF this year, and will be the opening night film at the Windsor festival.
Based on buzz, you should keep your eye on "Tu Dors Nicole" and "Preggoland" and possibly "Corbo."
This is not a full list of the Canadian films at the festival. But this list is what I'm highlighting this year.
- 1987
- An Eye for Beauty
- Big News from Grand Rock
- Corbo
- Felix and Meira
- Gerontophilia
- Miraculum
- Mommy
- Preggoland
- Tom At The Farm
- Tu Dors Nicole
Yes, we've already seen "An Eye for Beauty." But we want to hear how people are reacting to the film.
One special highlight of this year's festival is bringing back films that have previously run in the festival. Here are the Canadian titles.
- Gabrielle
- Monsieur Lazhar
- This Is What A Feminist Sounds Like
- Water
"This Is What A Feminist Sounds Like" is a local Windsor film; the rest have been Canada's entry for the Oscars. "Monsieur Lazhar" and "Water" made the cut on Oscars night.
The 2014 Windsor International Film Festival runs today through November 9. For details, click here.
Hi Chad, Wanda and I met you after Tom at the Farm yesterday, and again at Mario's listening to Ray play sax. I've have been reading your blog. You might want to take in the large Saturday Eastern Market in Detroit while you're here. Fresh food and lively atmosphere. I love it and you can bring groceries back to Canada easily. Did you see Boychoir today? Fabulous!

Merci. Thanks for checking in. Enjoyed meeting the two of you Saturday. Seeing films in a dark theatre can be seen as antisocial, but in this festival, you meet some amazing people that you can share the experience of what you saw.
The Eastern Market is marvelous, but likely won't have time on this trip.
