You didn't have to be a fan of Degrassi to appreciate Wheels Ontario, the Kroll Show version of the Canadian TV classic.
Kroll's Show ends its 3-year run on Comedy Central tonight. The show runs on Much in Canada.
Nick Kroll was Canadian pop star Bryan Lacroix playing Mikey on Wheels Ontario. The premise was that Mikey was the only person not in a wheelchair on the show — his way of being different.
Jon Daly was Gene Creemers. The show took those 2 characters and showed them outside the world of Wheels Ontario, such as the explanation of Canadian Christmas.
Bryan Lacroix borrows from Justin Bieber with the hair, but also Drake, who was in a wheelchair on Degrassi. Kroll said that is where the name Wheels Ontario was established.
Kroll explained in an interview that he has several writers who grew up in Canada that were more familiar with Degrassi.
You have to love a show that has a Poutine Dance.
The show wasn't as highly promoted as some of the other channel's programming. Finding Kroll's Show — especially the Canadian content — well, chances are you smiled a bit wider at what you saw.
