The other shoe has dropped. Though that shoe is getting a similar type gig doing satire on a fake news show.
Samantha Bee's new TBS show "is being planned as a platform for Bee to apply her smart and satirical point of view to current and relevant issues."
This means that Bee, like her husband Jason Jones, is leaving The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
The only reason for Bee to stay was to either host or getting a more significant role in the update. Getting her own show might just be as good, especially since the couple already is working on a sitcom with TBS.
Bee has been a correspondent with The Daily Show since 2003. She is the longest-serving correspondent in the history of the show.

A Canadian gets to grace the host chair of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
We don't have a definite timeline for when Bee will leave or when her new show starts. The hope and unofficial understanding is that both Jones and Bee will remain with the show until Stewart leaves.
As we noted with Jones, we will celebrate Bee's greatest hits closer to the time when she/they leave(s). Her legacy goes well beyond her knocks at Canadian Beer Stores and her other fun Canadian lines.
One last present would be if Bee got to host a week of The Daily Show to finally put a Canadian in the anchor chair for a week. Since she will eventually be competing with the program, that likely won't happen.
Since Samantha Bee and Jason Jones will not be hosting The Daily Show, we wondered if there is a Canadian from the outside who could pull off hosting the program.
Rick Mercer would make an amazing host, but since he can do what he wants on the Rick Mercer Report, losing that autonomy with the pressure of jumping into the hot seat would make Mercer stay in Canada.
Shaun Majumder of This Hour Has 22 Minutes has experience skewing the news since 2003. Majumder is known to U.S. audiences in films such as Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and The Ladies Man and TV shows such as Cedric the Entertainer Presents, 24, Unhitched, and The Firm.
Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder (Nathan For You) is familiar to Comedy Central and its millennial audience. Fielder's humor on Nathan For You is a bit subtle, but his deadpan approach could work in the anchor chair.
Fielder worked as a writer and on-air performer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes appearing on the program as Nathan / Nathan On Your Side.
If there is a Canadian comedian who you think would work in the Daily Show anchor chair, please let us know.
