Being a tourist is fun, but you feel like you aren't getting the true experience when you are there for a short time. Hang out in tourist areas and you really feel like you are missing the boat.
Nova Scotia is known for lobster and lobster rolls but I had trouble tracking down a really good lobster roll on my last visit.
What I really wanted was a shop with cooked lobster and to find a really good homemade bun and then track down some clarified butter to create my own lobster roll. But you are on vacation and you don't want to work that hard.
Don't worry: I did find a really good lobster roll in Halifax.
Since I had such a marvelous time, I will likely return to southern Nova Scotia in the near future. So if you have good lobster roll suggestions, let us know in the comments section.
Parameters: good bun, ideally split top roll, butter or very lightly dressed mayo, minimal (or no) celery, and lots of lobster meat.
