The CBC 2016 Winter schedule is proof of the success of nurturing Canadian programs. "Schitt's Creek" is back for a second season, forming the beginning of the 9 pm comedy block on Tuesday nights.
"X Company" is back for a second season starring the talented and lovely Evelyne Brochu. The program follows "Dragon's Den" on Wednesdays at 9 pm. The debut of "X Company" will be delayed until January 27. In the interim, CBC will run a British supernatural drama "Midwinter of the Spirit."
"Mr. D" — a long-time fan favorite (with a potential U.S. version) follows "Schitt's Creek" at 9:30 pm.

The press release from almost a year old noted that "Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays" was supposed to be back with 6 new episodes in the winter. Perhaps those episodes will air in the spring.
The CBC could have filled the Sunday night hole with reruns of the original run of "Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays" to reacquaint the audience with the show. Running reruns of a new reality show followed by Just for Laughs episodes is a poor way to fill time on the winter schedule.
Growing an audience for something different on a Sunday night would be a smarter strategy.
