Coshay, not Cophine. A lot more of Krystal Goderitch. And hopefully, more of Tatiana Maslany in Season 4 of Orphan Black.
We also have a new night for the program, Thursday nights, at 10 pm Eastern on BBC America and Space in Canada.
Season 3 brought us a bunch of male clones, the loss of Delphine and Paul, and watching the sisterhood struggle without help from each other. We are absolutely hoping for a sense of belonging that was more a part of the first 2 seasons.
Tatiana Maslany (finally) gets Emmy nod for Orphan Black
Orphan Black Season 3 wrapup: Hoping Delphine will return
Even with a somewhat off season, Orphan Black took home 7 Canadian Screen Awards, including Tatiana Maslany for Best Actress and Ari Mellen for Best Actor. Maria Doyle Kennedy was nominated for Best Supporting Actress but did not win.
Krystal Goderitch was the cosmetologist whose identity was stolen by Felix putting on his best Canadian accent. Despite Jordan Gavaris' rich British accent, the actor is Canadian. Krystal doesn't know she is a clone but she has had a rough time in Season 3. She will freak out when she is finally told that news.
We know there are other changes coming to Season 4. Since we want to be genuinely surprised, we aren't going into those here. If you can't resist, here is a link to the Season 4 trailer.
We are hoping for another cool season open. Last year, we had all the sisters in the backyard on a beautiful sunny day lavishing the pregnant Helena while the Beach Boys Wouldn't It Be Nice was playing in the background. These seasons open and close with such beautiful moments: last year's dinner was wonderful, though tragic in what happened to Delphine.
There is a lot of action and heartbreak in between, so it's nice to remember the open and close to each season.
Orphan Black returns for Season 3 on Saturday
One new thing we can talk about is an after show for Orphan Black this season. After the Black dives into the episode that just aired. Ajay Fry, Morgan Hoffman, and Teddy Wilson from Space's news magazine program InnerSpace will host the after show.
The TV listings give 90 minutes and that includes the after show. We know the guests on the first week will be Tatiana Maslany and Kevin Hanchard.
I could have used this show in Season 3 to explain some of what I saw. This should be fun, and having Maslany on the first episode will help. I might be in the minority on this, but seeing the real Maslany after watching her do characters might be too jolting. I likely will watch the episode, and later, watch the after show. Feel free to disagree with that approach.
Orphan Black is strongly Canadian
If Orphan Black isn't enough for you to get your Tatiana Maslany fix, The Other Half is a new film starring Maslany as a bipolar artist along with Tom Cullen, Maslany's real life petit ami. Suzanne Clément plays her stepmother, which is enough to get me to watch.
The film played at the SXSW Festival in March, so we aren't sure when we'll have a chance to see the film. TIFF 2016 would be a nice venue.
