We have mentioned that Canadians can cope with language on over the air television that Americans couldn't possibly handle. Bleeping out innocent swear words on Republic of Doyle reruns feels rather lame.
CTV will test those boundaries in the next 2 weeks as the network will show Season 1 of Game of Thrones. The over-the-air network will air the 10 episodes of Season 1 over the next 2 weeks at 10 pm Eastern. Unlike with the CBC, the program airs at 11 pm in the Maritimes and 9 pm in the Central Time Zone.
The network says it will air the episodes unedited, which allows for nudity, sexuality, and plenty of violence.
As the Bell Media press release notes:
"As the fantasy series portrays a world with violence, sexuality, and nudity, it is therefore not a program for children, and some adults may also find it too strong for their taste. With strict adherence to CBSC standards, CTV will ensure the program airs with the appropriate viewer disclaimers and AGVOT rating throughout each episode."
CBSC stands for Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. AGVOT stands for Action Group on Violence On Television.

Unlike CBC, Americans have a more difficult time watching CTV. Buffalo; Bellingham, WA; areas south of Montréal. Seattle doesn't get CTV on cable and Detroit doesn't likely get CTV on cable.
