The visits to Manitoba and Saskatchewan were more about football and provincial legislatures, but the legacy of the trip definitely involved Saskatoon berries.
By themselves, the Saskatoon doesn't have much flavor. Inside a pie or a shortbread cookie, they were the taste of the Prairies.
They were all around farmers markets, alone and in delicious baked goods.
This beautiful pie came from the Regina Farmers Market in Victoria Park. Tasting even better than the looking, the pie was simple and magical all at once.
