The NHL Network has a pair of Canadian games but not Hockey Night in Canada this week. The U.S. channel will hopefully have a simulcast of the Rogers Sportsnet feed Friday night with the Edmonton Oilers hosting New Jersey. An Alberta team on a live game on the NHL Network is a rare treat indeed.
The NHL Network will also have the Hometown Hockey game Sunday night from the Rogers Sportsnet feed with the Montréal Canadiens in the Windy City.
CBC has the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road in St. Louis in the early game. City TV will simulcast the early game. Washington and Boston will get this game as the backup NHL Network game. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins finish their Western Canada road trip in Vancouver in the late game.
Post 2017 World Series, Rogers Sportsnet is back with a flourish. The regional channels have the Edmonton Oilers at home Friday against New Jersey. The regional channels will have the all-Canadian game with the Montréal Canadiens only trip to Winnipeg. Hometown Hockey Sunday night from Orillia, ON has the Habs in Chicago. Wednesday Night Hockey has the Maple Leafs hosting Minnesota.
Rogers Sportsnet 360 helps out with a late game on Sunday as Calgary hosts New Jersey.

The Stanley Cup (monument) has arrived in Ottawa. The unveiling Saturday night at Elgin and Sparks in downtown Ottawa is part of the NHL 100 celebration that will culminate in the outdoor game in Ottawa with the Senators and the Canadiens.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in an interview with David Amber that he thought the sculpture would be a tourist attraction. No offence, Mr. Prime Minister, but porquoi?
The monument isn't particularly interesting or awe-inspiring. The fact that the real Stanley Cup can't come to Canada makes the monument seem even more ridiculous.
Others are welcome to disagree. I will look for it the next time I am in Ottawa but I wouldn't make a special trip.
Let's hope the prime minister will take in the game in his Jean Beliveau sweater that he wore in the interview.

Hockey Night in Canada had a scary Halloween opening. What was even scarier is why the NHL Network decided to interrupt the opening with commercials in the middle of the opening. Either pay those people more so they can do a good job or get rid of them to hire people who know what they are doing. This was very unprofessional.
The insecure "geniuses" decided to implement a shot clock in between periods. The shot clock has always been a bad idea for the channel in the past and this is still a bad decision. If we are watching Coach's Corner, we know you're showing Hockey Night in Canada.

Rogers was afraid of After Hours when the new NHL deal started. Rogers eventually brought back the feature after a 2-year absence in the fall of 2016. Was a pleasant surprise to hear Paul Romanuk give a pair of shout-outs for viewers to find Scott Oake on Twitter to ask a question.

Caught the Dallas-Calgary game Friday night as the backup NHL Network game. Rick Ball worked with Cassie Campbell-Pascall as Kelly Hrudey flew to Toronto for the studio show. We haven't seen Campbell-Pascall as a reporter this season but she has filled in as an analyst.
Given that Campbell-Pascall is based in Calgary, Hrudey goes to Toronto each week, and Louie DeBrusk working the late game on Saturdays, she is a logical pick as the fill-in Calgary analyst. Campbell-Pascall is missed at ice level on Hockey Night in Canada.

I think one reason for the change with Cassie has to do with the fact that Kyle Bukauskas has a regular role as a rinkside reporter for HNIC. Between him, Chris Simpson, Oake and others there isn't much need for her in that role (as good as she is).

I know that Kyle Bukauskas is also working the Maple Leafs local telecasts on Rogers Sportsnet Ontario. So that is part of the deal. Will be curious on weeks with more than 1 western game whether Cassie will work the ice level then.
