The genuine surprise in last winter's CBC lineup was not using British shows to prop up the prime time lineup. There are a few UK shows and reality programs to fill the gaps in the CBC television 2020 winter schedule.
The CBC winter schedule has been strengthened with returning dramas such as Burden of Truth, Diggstown, and Coroner.
Fortunate Son is the highlight of the new shows this winter on CBC. Kari Matchett, Darren Mann, and Stephen Moyer star in the drama about draft dodgers set in 1968. The show is in the late slot on Wednesdays.
The CBC Docs original series The Oland Murder is a 4-episode series on the real-life murder of Richard Oland of Moosehead Brewing fame with a March 5 premiere.
Endlings is a sci-fi adventure series featuring foster kids. That show will run back-to-back episodes in the 6 pm hour on Sundays.
You Can’t Ask That is adapted from an Australian show about asking awkward questions of people living with a disability. That show runs after Marketplace on Friday nights.
Reality type shows dominate the rest of the new programs. High Arctic Haulers takes the 8 pm Sunday slot. Back in Time for Winter based off of Back in Time for Dinner is in the early slot on Thursdays. Fridge Wars follows in that same timeslot starting February 27.

The winter comedy block is back on Tuesdays with Kim's Convenience and the final season of Schitt's Creek. The post-Schitt's slot will be filled by the UK series Catastrophe and a shortened 8-episode season of Workin' Moms starting February 18.
Murdoch Mysteries, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Marketplace, and Hockey Night in Canada are year-round shows back in their regular timeslots. Burden of Truth and Diggstown once again share the early Wednesday timeslot. Coroner is back after Murdoch Mysteries on Monday nights, sharing the slot with the UK series Wild Bill. The Detectives are back late on Thursdays.
The Nature of Things has the late slot on Friday. The Fifth Estate starts out in the 9 pm slot on Sundays, moving to 8 pm to make room for CBC Docs POV, which debuts on February 9.
Dragons' Den and Heartland are done for the year. The foreign series Find Me In Paris runs in the Heartland slot.
Shows from last winter that aren't returning are Street Legal; Unspeakable; Cavendish; Little Dog; The Stats of Life; and Under New Management.

Thanks for the love of Frankie Drake. I have seen a few episodes, some of them via PBS. A rather good show.
