An important message about Canadian Screen Week: https://t.co/iO62ouW9oC pic.twitter.com/uOnskxHp0c

"The Canadian Academy is deeply saddened to announce the cancellation of all Canadian Screen Week activities in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, including the national broadcast gala on Sunday, March 29th. Following a thorough review of Canadian Screen Week events and an assessment of the potential risk to our attendees, we feel this is the only responsible decision at this time."
If the 2020 Junos were any example, the winners of the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards will remain a mystery for some time. The music event was scheduled for March 15 in Saskatoon while the Canadian Screen Awards live finale was scheduled for last night in Toronto. We still don't know the 2020 Junos winners.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television weighed in on Friday: "We remain committed to the celebration of our Canadian Screen Award nominees and Special Award honourees, and look forward to feteing them properly when the time is right."
The plan appears to be a ceremony of some kind when curves are flattened in dealing with the COVID-19 coronavirus. Hopefully, the winners won't have to wait too much longer to find out who won the awards.

The momentum of Canadian film, TV, and digital winners would carry on into the next season. That is going to be an issue down the road.
Filming is highly impractical now and in the near future. The delays may bite into the fall TV season, releases at TIFF, TIFF itself and other Canadian film festivals (WIFF!!). As much as we would love to have space filled with jubilant reactions to winning, we are not there right now.

You don't have to play Double Jeopardy to figure Alex Trebek will appear via video if there is a ceremony. Trebek is one of the Special Award honourees this year.

A big thanks to all the fans for voting!#CdnScreenAwards pic.twitter.com/Oma82wY74B
The one Canadian Screen Award that was given out was for the Cogeco Fund Audience Choice Award.
Kat Barrell (Wynonna Earp) beat out the other finalists: Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E) and Graham Wardle (Heartland).
The week of festivities in Toronto, Montréal, and Vancouver hopefully will return in 2021.
The Canadian Screen Awards celebrates the best in Canadian television, Canadian film, and Canadian digital projects. The awards ceremony has been on CBC and available online outside Canada.
