When Orphan Black came to an end on August 2017, we explored the impact of the show on the landscape. There was a lot to absorb as the series finale came to an end.
The Schitt's Creek series finale didn't have a lot to absorb. The wedding (no spoilers) was the reason for the final show.
Tears abounded during the show and in the audience. Love was all around.

Examining the legacy of Orphan Black
The love between the family members. The love between the family members and the townspeople. "Fold in the cheese." "I like the wine and not the label." "Simply the best." "Ewww, David." Ewww indeed.
The rich characters. The LGBTQ+ storylines in a world where prejudice wasn't a factor. The growth of characters, especially the Rose family. There was humour but not at anyone in a mean way. A small town where people were understanding, warm, and gracious.

Celebrating great Canadian actors from Schitt's Creek
Schitt's Creek documentary to run following series finale
The Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell documentary took us to the audition process for several characters. This tied in well with our look last Friday on these great Canadian actors who made up the show. Chris Elliott was the lone American on camera for the show's entire run.
If you are a fan of the wardrobe on Schitt's Creek, you should check out the documentary. I confess I didn't always get the significance about the outfits, but I appreciate the amazing attention to detail. I thought about what Dan Levy brought to this show on multiple layers. The comparison to acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan may not be exact but Levy and Dolan have a great sense of place and decor to their creative projects. High praise indeed.
Top 10 best Canadian TV shows in the 2010s
SCTV. Kids in the Hall. Schitt's Creek. Okay, Orphan Black and maybe The Red Green Show. Not too many Canadian TV shows have truly crossed over beyond the 49th parallel. I remember in the first couple of seasons praising this show and people had no idea about the show. Netflix did make a huge difference. Thank you for that.
Hearing Americans talk about Schitt's Creek is warm and fuzzy to my ears. I don't have to try and explain a Canadian TV show to an American audience. The show was a place where people could come, be who they are, and be entertained and enlightened.

We haven't sorted out the 2020 version of the Canadian Screen Awards. The show is eligible for the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards and the 2020 Emmys. So more awards still await the show.
