In a parallel universe, the Stanley Cup finals are underway. Is there a Canadian team in sight? Check again later. Are the Toronto Raptors playing? What about the early start for the CFL on June 11.
Sorry, none of those things are happening. We do have more Canadian films on Movie Night in Canada on CBC.
Here is the schedule for the first half of June 2020.
June 6
7p Kayak to Klemtu (2017)
9p Mouthpiece (2018)
June 13
7p An Audience of Chairs (2019)
9p Octavio Is Dead (2018)
Canadian film review: Mouthpiece
Mouthpiece is a beautiful film that we have already reviewed. Take the opportunity to see this film.
Kayak to Klemtu is about a 14-year-old girl who speaks on behalf on her dead uncle against a proposed pipeline potentially bringing oil tanker traffic to the waters around her small British Columbia hometown.
I've seen a bit of publicity for An Audience of Chairs. Looks promising. You get a sense of Newfoundland, where it was filmed. Octavio is Dead was already on CBC last summer. Sarah Gadon is the lead in that film from writer/director Sook-Yin Lee. Deanne Foley (director) and Rosemary House (writer) created An Audience of Chairs so the theme is all-female on that side of the camera.
Kayak to Klemtu and An Audience of Chairs are both available in the United States on Amazon Prime.

Early June is normally the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs coverage. If the Canadian films trend continues, we will cover the CBC schedule of Canadian films. Don't have any of the sports to cover, so why not.
