Schitt's Creek got an astounding 4 Emmy nominations in 2019: Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara along with the show itself and contemporary costumes.
Schitt's Creek, a small Canadian TV show in the beginning on a U.S. channel virtually no one knew, finishes its run with 15 Emmy nominations.
The show; the 4 primary actors (Levy, O'Hara, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy); the younger Levy for comedy writing and comedy directing (shared with Andrew Cividino); David West Read for comedy writing in a different episode; Casting For A Comedy Series; contemporary costumes, single-camera picture editing (2 different nominations), contemporary hairstyling, contemporary makeup (non-prosthetic), and sound mixing.
This is the second Emmy nomination for Schitt's Creek for Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara; the first in any category for Dan Levy and Annie Murphy. The show literally can't win all 15 nominations since a couple of categories have dual nominees (comedy writing and single-camera picture editing). Too bad the Emmys don't have an award for ensemble because they would win in a heartbeat. I know if anyone of them win an award, the entire cast and crew will be thanked.
I know this seems un-Canadian but we want the show to win a few Emmys. Tatiana Maslany was the last Canadian to win an Emmy for a Canadian show, winning for Orphan Black in 2016.
