The Canadian CBC audience found out in the middle of Season 5 that they were watching the final season of Kim’s Convenience. U.S. viewers on Netflix know this was the last season for the show. They can start watching Season 5 on Netflix as of today.
As we know from the end of Season 4, big changes are coming for Season 5. One extra surprise is that Simu Liu, who plays Jung, had to juggle Season 5 with filming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings from Marvel in Australia.
Other countries will have to wait a short time to get Season 5 on Netflix.
The wait for Season 5 on Netflix was a good sized gap between the series finale on CBC on April 13 and June 2. Non-Canadians had to wait a single day (April 1 vs. March 31) for Season 4 on Netflix in the U.S. and elsewhere.
If you choose to inhale the 13 episodes today, keep in mind that other fans may want to take in the episodes like a fine wine. These are the final episodes so go easy.

The wait for Season 5 of Workin' Moms on Netflix, also from CBC, is a little longer. Season 5 drops on Netflix on June 15. The season has 10 episodes, up from 8 in Season 4 but down from 13 each in Seasons 1-3. Workin' Moms is now carrying the mantle of top CBC comedy on the international stage with the retirement of Schitt's Creek, Kim's Convenience, and Baroness von Sketch Show.
The key note in Season 5, which we learned at the end of Season 4, is that Anne (Dani Kind) and Lionel (Ryan Belleville) Carlson and their daughters move from Toronto to Calgary.
That split changes the dynamic for Season 5 since the show is very Toronto-centric. The show reportedly deals with the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the show. We will be curious how star and creator Catherine Reitman takes on those elements in Season 5.
