We don't have a Canadian film podcast. Maybe someday. Telefilm Canada has a podcast devoted to Canadian film.
Maple Popcorn is a really great name for a podcast on Canadian film. The initial 6 episodes came out last summer (we discovered this a bit late).
Maple Popcorn is about the world of Canadian film as opposed to actual Canadian films.
In the Colm Feore episode, Feore mentions recent Canadian films in which he appeared such as Sugar Daddy, My Salinger Year, and Akilla's Escape.
Feore talked about taking on larger projects so he could afford to do smaller Canadian projects. He draws people to see a Canadian film who otherwise might pick something else. I recognised Kelly McCormack from Letterkenny; Colm Feore added to my intrigue. Feore did humbly point out winning a Canadian Screen Award for his performance in Sugar Daddy.
Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers had such beautiful words to say about Tracey Deer's early projects. Deer replied with how beautiful Tailfeathers' words were. The emotion from Deer was a magical podcast moment.
Katharine Isabelle talked about her experience on Ginger Snaps, our all-time Canadian horror film (which is saying a lot).
Canadian entertainment reporter Marriska Fernandes is the host. Fernandes is candid in her observations and resists the need to be a super fan.
