The post Canada Day/July 4 CFL week is West-dominated and only has 3 games.
The Battle of Alberta already has a revenge game on Thursday night, having played in Calgary 2 weeks ago. This is Edmonton's next shot to break its longest home losing streak in franchise history. Doing so against the Stampeders would be psychologically beneficial. All of this on the heels of the Elks first win in 2022.
The Ottawa RedBlacks are the only East team playing this week, going to Regina on Friday night.
The lone Saturday game has the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the late afternoon in Vancouver to battle the Lions.
ESPNews will simulcast the TSN feed on Friday and Saturday nights.
Hamilton, Montréal, and Toronto get to hang out in the summertime.

Bye week: Hamilton, Montréal, Toronto
Hamilton and Toronto came rather close. The West continues its dominance over the East, going 11-1 in inter-division play. The RedBlacks have an uphill battle changing that trend in Regina on Friday.
The Argos have a division win against Montréal, whose lone win came against Saskatchewan. The other 2 East teams are winless while 3 of the 5 West teams are undefeated.
Division games are crucial and there are more of them in this year's schedule.
2022 CFL Week 4 preview
The only East team that won a game against a West team just fired their head coach and defensive coordinator. The Montréal Alouettes relieved Khari Jones and Barron Miles of their duties. Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia will assume the post of interim head coach. Noel Thorpe will replace Miles.
We knew that Maciocia would find a way to coach at some point. We know that Gary Stern is an impatient owner. Jones was in the last year of his contract. The Alouettes have had player discipline issues, which did not help.
Montréal has a bye week to get used to the new regime.
Shockingly, this is the first in-season CFL coaching change since 2017. That year, the Alouettes (Jacques Chapdelaine) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Kent Austin) fired their head coach.
TSN might be interested in having Jones as a fill-in on the panel. Jones worked with Steve Armitage as the second crew on the CFL on CBC.
2022 CFL Week 3 preview
The BC Lions got some adversity that the team frankly needed. Nathan Rourke threw a couple of tough interceptions that led to Ottawa majors. The issue for the RedBlacks is they couldn't drive down the field and get touchdowns.
The Lions showed they could bounce back. Ottawa defence had a good game. The RedBlacks offence is better but still not there. The RedBlacks consolation is still not having playing a division game yet.
2022 CFL Week 2 preview
Tre Ford, the first Canadian quarterback starter to go to university in Canada since Andrew Buckley in 2017, was a Canadian quarterback who won a CFL game on Canada Day. The Edmonton Elks got help from an improving defence taking advantage of Hamilton Tiger-Cats turnovers.
The Tiger-Cats had an alarming 0-8 start in 2017. Hamilton has lost its first 2 home games in 2022, both in rather dramatic fashion.
The home team was in good shape until defensive back Scott Hutter stripped Hamilton quarterback Dane Evans of the ball late in the game. Jalen Collins picked up the ball for the winning score. The Elks were down 22-9 in the 3rd quarter.
2022 CFL Week 1 preview
Montréal had a 13-11 halftime lead at Regina. The Alouettes had 6 offensive plays while Saskatchewan scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter.
The teams end up splitting its home-and-home series, each team winning at home.
Chandler Worthy had his second kickoff TD return for Montréal against Saskatchewan. Worthy returned a kickoff 84 yards for a TD compared to the June 23 opening kickoff of 88 yards. Roughriders cornerback Nick Marshall had a 90-yard interception TD return late in the game last week.
Saskatchewan tried a onside kick in lieu of a FG attempt with Brett Lauther. While the play did not succeed, that was fun to watch.
2022 CFL preview
Toronto scored only 1 touchdown and beat Montréal in the Argos first game. The Argonauts scored 2 touchdowns against Winnipeg and barely lost. The team scored 0 touchdowns in the blowout loss in Vancouver.
The Argos won on a blown field goal against the Alouettes and lost on a missed extra point against Winnipeg. Toronto had plenty of opportunities for more points. Winnipeg's defence gave the Blue Bombers a game they might have deserved to win.
Andrew Harris had 111 yards on 22 carries in his first game against his old team. Due to the uneven schedule, Toronto doesn't travel to Winnipeg in 2022.
Why the Canadian ratio is so important in the CFL
2022 CFL preseason schedule
We've told the story a few times about being in Vancouver in 2008 and watching a CFL game on July 4. They played the U.S. anthem that day and also did so at BMO Field on July 4 this year. Classy move.
CanadianCrossing.com CFL coverage
The quarterbacks Marshall Ferguson and Matt Dunigan with Matthew Scianitti were in Ottawa on Canada Day Eve.
Rod Smith and Duane Forde with Matthew Scianitti along with the panel spent Canada Day in Hamilton and in Toronto on the U.S. holiday. Scianitti had a Sara Orlesky type weekend since Ottawa reporter Claire Hanna had Wimbledon duty.
Dustin Nielson and Glen Suitor with Orlesky had a relatively light holiday weekend with a Saturday night in Regina.
Dave Naylor filled in well on the panel for Dunigan. This gave an opening for Kate Beirness to award herself best hair style on the panel, given the bald pates of Davis Sanchez, Milt Stegall, and Naylor. Your humble narrator doesn't have much hair either.
