The NHL regular season started last night for 4 of the 7 Canadian teams. Hockey Night in Canada returns to the CBC on Saturday night. This kicks off a months-long hiatus away from Canadian films on CBC on Saturday nights.
The 2022 offseason had fewer "family films" than previous offseasons and more films aimed at adults with later starting times. Sometimes the Saturday night collections had some relevant theme, at least until 1 am local time.
We saw some relatively new Canadian films such as Akilla's Escape (2020), Monkey Beach (2020), The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open (2019), Goalie (2019), and The Song of Names (2019). There were some fine coming of age Canadian films such as Giant Little Ones (2018) and Closet Monster (2015).
There are quite a few hockey related films on the 2022 list.
