Thursday Night Football in the CFL gives us a battle of green as Edmonton travels to Saskatchewan. The Elks couldn't break into the end zone late in the first meeting. Edmonton is hoping for better luck in Regina.
The Elks could only muster a single touchdown in Ottawa last week.
The best game of the week is the Friday night matchup with the Calgary Stampeders going to Winnipeg. This game could help the Stampeders get back in the West race, especially coming off a bye week.
Jeremiah Masoli is back in Hamilton as the starting quarterback for the RedBlacks on Saturday night. Ottawa is riding a high after a home win.
Fresh off their first loss of the season, the Montréal Alouettes visit Vancouver to see their former quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. in his new home at BC Place for a late afternoon game on the West Coast on Sunday.
CBS Sports Network will have the Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday games in the United States via the TSN feed. Too bad the U.S. channel is missing out on the best game of the week on Friday.
Toronto gets its second bye week in the first 5 weeks of the season.

The Edmonton Elks have had the headlines for the CFL's longest home losing streak. The Ottawa RedBlacks had a very sad level of losing at home. Ottawa went 640 days in between wins.
Tyrie Adams completed a 54-yard TD pass to receiver Marco Dubois in the first quarter for the RedBlacks' first major on offence this season. Kicker Lewis Ward added 4 field goals.
Ottawa has now lost 24 of the last 26 at TD Place. The RedBlacks last home win had been September 28, 2021 with a 34-24 win over Edmonton. Factor in a home win over Saskatchewan early in 2019 and the last home win against an East team was the final game of the 2018 season over Toronto.
The Ottawa Rough Riders still hold the franchise mark with 14 straight home losses back in 1987-1988.
The Ottawa defence was aided by 3 interceptions.
Congratulations to the Edmonton Elks on ending a long home losing streak.

2023 CFL Week 4 preview: Canada Day weekend
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers did what they needed to do on a less than ideal night of football on Canada Day. Winnipeg easily won the turnover battle. The previously undefeated Alouettes finally got on the scoreboard with a field goal with 6:09 remaining in the 4th quarter.
A reminder to set more time on your PVR or DVR in case of lightning and rain in a CFL game.
2023 CFL Week 3 preview
As we predicted, quarterback/wide receiver Kai Locksley has found a new CFL home in Hamilton. The Edmonton Elks released Locksley.
Speaking of the Elks, Taylor Cornelius is once again the starting quarterback for Edmonton.
Tyrie Adams suffered an ACL injury in the win over Edmonton Elks and will miss the remainder of the season for Ottawa.
2023 CFL Week 2 preview
Vernon Adams Jr. had some impressive offensive numbers in the BC Lions game in Toronto Monday night: 388 yards and 3 touchdowns. Adams did throw 6 interceptions. The Argonauts margin of victory was covered by points off turnovers.
The imbalanced schedule means Toronto won't go to Vancouver in 2023. Too bad since that matchup would have made for a great game.
TSN showed Jim Kelly in the stands, given that Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly is the former NFL quarterback's nephew. Rod Black would have gone wild over that NFL connection.
2023 CFL Week 1 preview
Missed the @CFL #CanadaDay game likely due to @xfinity incompetence with the @CBSSportsNet signal. Not much of a game yet wanted to watch on a holiday evening.

This might be a fluke in a crappy DVR situation. The CFL+ era has some advantages but I could have caught up with the game in the ESPN system. That game wasn't one of the CFL's best and you can catch up on any game via the game recaps.

Quality analysis from 3 Down Nation on the flaws of CFL leadership. I would throw in the lack of a CFL app … in 2023.
We enjoy covering the CFL and feel free to criticize the league for falling short of what it could be.
Here is the latest from them on analyzing the work of the CFL on TSN.
CanadianCrossing.com CFL coverage
Marshall Ferguson and Matthew Scianitti were in the spotlight on the CFL on TSN coverage. Ferguson and Glen Suitor met up for the first time together in 2023 in Ottawa on Friday night. Ferguson and Duane Forde called the rain drenched game in Montréal on Canada Day. Ferguson and Suitor found their way to Toronto for the Monday night contest.
Scianitti filled in for Claire Hanna (Ottawa), who is working on Women's World Cup coverage, and Kenzie Lalonde (Montréal), likely for the same reason. Scianitti also handled his regular sideline duties in Toronto.
Rod Smith and Dustin Nielson got to enjoy the Canada Day weekend with their loved ones.
Davis Sanchez continued his extended time away from the CFL on TSN panel. Kate Beirness pointed out that Sanchez was live at the game in Toronto. Dave Naylor filled in for Sanchez on the panel.
