Welcome back to our coverage of Canadian films on the CBC. We've seen a few new films this summer and fall, even to us, though they are likely Canadian films in name only.
This is the final weekend of Canadian films since Hockey Night in Canada returns on October 14. Sports is the theme for this final weekend of Canadian films.
CBC shows Canadian films on Saturday night before Hockey Night in Canada returns to the public broadcaster.
This summer, the CBC presentations are starting at 9 pm local time (9:30 pm in Newfoundland).
We are getting 3 films in the final week, though some weeks only have 2 Canadian films.
This is a nice service from the public broadcaster.

Alison Pill shows Canadian sensibility in reaction to accidental topless photos
Goon is more violent than typical Canadian films, yet may find a U.S. audience
Breakaway is a cute film that combines the India influence in Canada with hockey. Perhaps the only Canadian film featuring Rob Lowe. We recently reviewed that Canadian film.
The original Goon has a lot of fighting yet surprisingly is a good film. Alison Pill has a much more interesting character in the original film. You might recall that CBC showed the same film on April 15.
The Grizzlies is a wonderful film about sports and community in an Indigenous village. The film paints a fairly accurate picture of living in a remote community.
